Walmart recently mandated changes in the way corrugated shipping cases are marked for food products.  Suppliers, machinery companies and food manufacturers are all looking for additional information and guidance on how to best comply with this new directive.  I've teamed up with a local supplier education team in Bentonville, Ark., and I will be hosting a webinar on this topic on May 5, 2016.  For more information, go to www.8thandwalton.com

The May issue of Packaging World magazine ran a cover story on Walmart's recently issued guidelines on shipping cases.  Take a look inside for my strategies and recommendations for brand owners and packaging companies, or just follow this link.

In March I was invited to Manhattan's Fashion Institute of Technology (part of the SUNY system) to serve as an external reviewer for the Packaging Design Program.  We held meetings with students, faculty and administrators, together with my colleague Peter Chamberlain from the University of Cincinnati.  The FIT Packaging Design Program offers a unique approach to the academic study of packaging, integrating brand management, visual communication and creative design.  For more information, go to www.fitnyc.edu

Forbes.com offers some great ideas about entrepreneurship, and I was happy to have Hudson Windsor featured in Startup Stories as an example of how big-company executives are striking out on their own.  You can see the full article here.

In March I spoke at the Annual Meeting of the Flexible Packaging Association as part of a panel on Supply Chain Transparency.  With the increased attention being given to how supply chains work and how our consumption decisions affect people and the environment, this was a very timely issue.  I was fortunate to be included on the panel with Tony Kingsbury, formerly of UC Berkeley and Dow Chemical, Nestle's David Strauss, and Bill Griesser, formerly of P&G.  For more information about FPA, follow this link.  For additional details on Corporate Social Responsibility in the packaging industry, contact me via email.

Hudson Windsor was recently featured in the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal, a specialized business publication focused on Walmart suppliers in Bentonville, Ark and the surrounding communities.  To see the full article and find out more about how to meet Walmart's requirements for effective and powerful retail packaging, follow this link.

In April I was pleased to offer the Keynote address at the TAPPI conference held in Ft. Worth.  It was a great opportunity to meet with other packaging professionals focused on innovation and development in films, laminations and extrusion.  This event was a great chance to examine the growth of the market for plastic pouches.  For more information, go to www.tappi.org or contact me via email.

Each week, the NBC affiliate in Northwest Arkansas broadcasts "Focus on Suppliers", a 30-minute program highlighting successful strategies for consumer products suppliers to Walmart and Sam's Club.  I was recently interviewed about Walmart's packaging guidelines, and you can click on the thumbnail to the left to see this section of the Shareholders' Week broadcast
